We’ve all been hanging out here for a while in my little corner of the internet and it’s time I let you in on a secret. As much as I LOVE relaxing with a good glass of wine, in the summer, I really love making fun cocktails. Easy, refreshing cocktails with simple ingredients that you can make without needing to go to 85 stores and ordering specialty herbs from Amazon.
Simple is my jam.
Don’t get me wrong, every now and again I will get fancy and Amazon Prime a bunch of crazy ingredients but that’s just not realistic at 5:30pm on a Friday when the weather is perfect, ya know? I want something that by 5:35pm I can be sipping on my deck.
So, this summer, I am bringing you a new series, Thirsty Thursday.
Delicious, easy to make cocktails that will come to you every Thursday. Cocktails just in time for the weekend that you can whip up without needing a ton of fancy things. In fact, I think for most of these you will have 90% of the ingredients on hand already.
In honor of the First Thirsty Thursday, I bring you this refreshing Green Tea Margarita. Refreshing, crisp and loaded with antioxidants, this margarita requires only 4 ingredients and a cocktail shaker. It makes 2 smaller cocktails or one big cocktail (my fave) and multiplies easily if you wanted to make a pitcher full!
You’re welcome!
Green Tea Margarita
Ingredients
- 5 ounces unsweetened green tea, cold
- 2 ounces tequila
- 1 ounce orange liquor
- 1 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
Instructions
-
Take a chilled glass and rub the rim with a lime wedge. Dip the rim into a plate of coarse salt, covering it as much as you can. Fill glass with ice.
-
Pour green tea, tequila, orange liquor and lime juice into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously for at least 30 seconds.
-
Strain into ice filled glass and enjoy. Garnish with fresh lime if desired.
Recipe Notes
This recipe calls for 5 ounces green tea, if you are using bottled green tea, make sure it is unsweetened. Otherwise, I recommend brewing green tea per package instructions ahead of time and chilling in the refrigerator until ready to use.
